Idaho Public Television’s FESTIVAL 2010 culminated 16 days of on-air fundraising with a total of $1.1 million in donor gifts — $150,000 more than in 2009 but $200,000 short of the 2010 goal of $1.3 million.
“We thank everyone who contributed during FESTIVAL 2010,” says Marketing Director Kim Philipps. “FESTIVAL’s goal was higher for 2010 because private funding dipped during this fiscal year due to the past 18 months of economic challenges everyone has been facing.”
Philipps said efforts are under way to seek the additional $200,000 by July 1 to meet the total private funding goal for the current fiscal year.
Private funding sources for the statewide public television system are a mix of corporations and other businesses, foundations and individuals. The private dollars make up 63 percent of IdahoPTV’s total budget; the remaining dollars are from state and federal funds. The annual March FESTIVAL campaign connects with donors by mail, telephone, online and on-air.
“FESTIVAL is one aspect of what we do all year,” Philipps says. “It is our largest and most visible fundraising effort and the goal is set in relation to the agency’s overall private fundraising goal, which this year is $3.1 million.”
Philipps points out that the financial support received throughout the fiscal year underscores the value Idahoans place on this statewide medium that provides educational, enlightening and entertaining quality programming throughout the year.
